Officer Joshua Miktarian

Twinsburg, OH - A Twinsburg Police Officer was shot and killed in the line of duty and a suspect is under arrest.

The shooting happened around 2-AM on Route 91 at Glenwood during a traffic stop.

Officer Joshua Miktarian and his canine partner had been called out to search an area when they made a a traffic stop along the way.

Officer Miktarian called for back-up and when back-up arrived, they found Officer Miktarian on the road with a gunshot wound to the head and his canine still in the cruiser.

Apparently, Officer Miktarian had pulled over the suspect for a routine traffic stop and when he approached the car, the man shot Officer Miktarian with a shot-gun.

Officer Miktarian was life-flighted to MetroHealth Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

About an hour after the shooting occurred, Police and SWAT crews surrounded a home in Twinsburg Township.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after.
